Farmington Valley Quilters Neo-Natal Quilts Project
|
what it entails:
Each year our guild makes about 100 quilts for premature
babies at UConn (John Dempsey Hospital). These quilts should
be 2 feet by 3 feet (24" by 36") at a minimum. They should also
be machine washable and without embellishments that little
hands and feet could get tangled in. Many quilters use this as
an opportunity to try a new technique to see if they like it. It's a
lot easier to test one out on a quilt this size than on a full-size
bed quilt! These quilts are gathered at each meeting by Sue
Trimble or Glenda Martin. We put on generic labels from the
guild (this is a service project done at the February meeting),
and deliver them in the fall. Please join in this project and get
that warm, fuzzy feeling from making a quilt that helps a little
one start out in life. You get a pin to attach to your nametag for
the first preemie quilt you donate, and these are distributed at
the June social.
